Book Tour: Will To Live by Rachel Amphlett

Today I have a review of the wonderful book Will To Live by Rachel Amphlett.

Will To Live is the 2nd book in the Detective Kay Hunter series however it can be read without having read the first book which is what I did.

Blerb…

Reputation is everything.

When a packed commuter train runs over a body on a stretch of track known to locals as “Suicide Mile”, it soon transpires that the man was a victim of a calculated murder.

As the investigation evolves and a pattern of murders is uncovered, Detective Sergeant Kay Hunter realises the railway’s recent reputation may be the work of a brutal serial killer.

With a backlog of cold cases to investigate and attempting to uncover who is behind a professional vendetta against her, Kay must keep one step ahead of both the killer and her own adversaries.

When a second murder takes place within a week of the first, she realises the killer’s timetable has changed, and she’s running out of time to stop him…

Review….
I was a little wary picking this up as it was the 2nd in a series and I hadn’t read the first book.

However, I soon discovered that it wasn’t a necessity to read the first book. While Will To Live does touch on Kay Hunter’s previous case and the after effect it isn’t prominent to the main story.

Kay is a likable character and I found her intriguing.  As for the story itself it was really good. I did think at one point that it was a little predictable but then BOOM the plot twist surprised me and I didn’t see it coming.

This book is very well written, intriguing and kept me engaged. I will definitely hunt out the first book to read for the backstory to Kay’s current situation.
