Book Club Review: The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

This month’s TSG Bookclub Book choice was The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave.

When Isabella’s friend disappears, she volunteers to guide the search party. As a mapmaker’s daughter, she’s equipped with elaborate ink maps and knowledge of the stars, eager to navigate the island’s forgotten heart. But beneath the mountains a legendary fire demon awakens, and her journey is fraught with danger …

I really enjoyed this book. It was a relatively quick read but certainly kept me intrigued enough to keep turning the pages. The character of Isabella is easy to like, she has a great temperament and a good heart. We follow her on her journey and discover the places that she’s never seen along the way. Bringing myth and legend to life this is a great story for both children and adult alike.

The ending is bittersweet and while sad it also opens up the world for those who have felt so trapped by their circumstances.

It really is a lovely book, I would highly recommend this to everyone regardless of the genre you usually read.

Thanks for reading.
