I was really intrigued by the blurb of this book. I love a good thriller. The story didn’t take long to get into the more ‘thriller’ aspect and you got the vibe there was a lot more going on early on.
Maura was likeable enough and I could certainly sympathise with her but I have to admit I didn’t seem to gel with her. I don’t know if it’s because I felt in some ways I was coming into a story that had already started.
I enjoyed the story, there were a lot of twists and turns and I didn’t see the murderer coming at all. However, the pacing really got me. I think it was probably just me but I felt like the story went on forever. So much had happened that I felt it dragged on a bit. I hit 75% and couldn’t believe I still had so much more to go. That been said I would recommend it. Ann definitely has a great flare for this sort of genre. The book was enjoyable and unpredictable.
I would rate The Forgotton Room 4/5 stars. Despite my pacing issues the book has everything you would want from a great thriller.
