It’s A Family Thing: Daisy Daydream by Sue Wickstead

Hey Everyone,

I am very lucky as a book blogger. Not only does my 4 year old daughter share my love of reading but author’s share their works with us. Today I have a review for you, from my daughter and I for the latest book from Sue Wickstead.

Sue has very generously sent us all her works to date and Alexis loves not only receiving them but reading them as well.

The book we are reviewing today is Daisy Daydream: The Nursery Rhyme Book.

On The Back

In 1987 the real Daisy was given a new lease of life when she was repainted with popular Nursery Rhyme characters for the children to enjoy and sing along.
The brightly decorated exterior would attract the attention of the children and get them running along to play and explore inside.
The playbus was a very popular and much-loved venue for a playgroup and fondly remembered.
A safe place to enjoy and certainly full of fun.

But I wonder what songs would the children sing these days?

Do they still know their Nursery Rhymes?

We even made a few rhymes of our own.

Review

When Sue sent us the book she also sent some really cute little buses to colour and make. We did this before reading the book and it really did add to the overall fun of reading a new book.

Alexis really enjoyed the book. The reference to lots of the nursery rhymes that she knows and we had a sing-a-long while reading. The story of Daisy is one of hope and it demonstrates how things can be re-used and still serve a purpose even if it is one that it wasn’t originally designated to do.

It was perfect for Alexis’s age, I would say that children would really enjoy this from being around 2 yrs old. Sue has a lovely way of writing for children. We cannot see what else Sue brings out over the course of her career.

Thank you to Sue for this opportunity and thanks to all of you for reading.

  1. I wonder if Alexis rememberers making her 3D Bus?
Now there are 11 story books, those buses certainly do keep moving.
    Hope you are well

      1. Oh that’s lovely to know.
My grandson is only two but has noticed the 3D Buses.
We will have to make one ourselves.
Your lovely review for Daisy came up as a memory and I loved seeing the concentration in Bus making.
