Wow guys what a book!

I was absolutely thrilled when I was approved for a copy of this from Netgalley. I have read Darren’s work previously and really enjoyed it so when I saw this was available it was a no brainer to apply for it.

I love the cover. It is so eye-catching and really draws me in. It totally relates to the storyline as well.

The Review

It is rare that when reading this genre that I am completely taken off guard. I always have a sneaking suspicion of who the killer is, or at the least can’t say I am overly surprised when it all comes out in the open. However, this book BLEW MY MIND! Darren the sneaky little devil totally blind-sided me with the ending. Not just for the reveal but the way it ended. I mean, I don’t want to give any spoilers but if you do manage to read this book (which you should) you will totally get what I mean when I say “YOU CAN’T DO THAT TO ME!”

Now let’s talk about Claire, the main character. She is very traumatised by what happened to her all those years ago, and well…rightly so. Usually I don’t really take to characters who are weak, I much prefer strong, brashy, badass women but Claire isn’t weak, she is just stuck. Stuck unable to really move on, terrified that what happened to will happen again. However, she constantly battles against her anxiety to try and not let the event define who she is and it makes for such a compelling read.

I loved this book so much and I 100% recommend that you should read it, whether psychological thrillers are your thing or not, the quality of the writing alone makes it worth a read. Congratulations Darren on another amazing book!
